Coincidently, the person that I selected for my profile presentation did not begin much of a writer at all. His career in publishing new media such as online writing and creating Youtube videos came later on in his life.

But let’s not jump ahead shall we? Let’s start from the beginning.

Mike “Foamer” Simpson was born in New York City, where at a very early age he gained a love for playing outside the game of basketball from watching New York Knicks games. Even though his family did not have a lot of money growing up and could not afford sneakers, he still loved them. Due to financial struggles within his family, he had to move quite a bit. At one time he said that he had to live in a trailer in New Jersey where his parents had to sleep outside in a tent. Luckily, his parents were able to make enough money to move back into the same neighborhood in New York so that he could still hang out with his friends.

As soon as he settled back into his old neighborhood, Simpson dedicated time and energy to his first love: basketball. Simpson become a really good basketball player, even so much so that while he was in high school, he stayed in New York to play while his mother and brothers and sisters moved to Florida. As he became better and better, Simpson was able to acquire enough in financial aid and athletic scholarships in order to play at a junior college in Kansas. While he said that it sucked because it was in the middle of nowhere, he did enjoy being able to compete in one of the country’s toughest JUCO conference. Simson even stated that his second year, his team actually came first place in the conference.

And this is where this got a little complicated.

Simpson had a couple of offers to play in several Division 1 schools for basketball, but due to some complications in contracts, he ended up playing college basketball in Georgia. After playing a year at Georgia, Simpson actually played for short period of time in a small college in Tennessee (I would list it but he did in fact not play at UTC, and other colleges do not matter). The reason why he chose to move to Tennessee was to play college ball with his younger brother, who goes by the nickname of “Young Bucketz”, who currently co-runs the Youtube channel with Simpson. Simpson stated that he led the nation in assists that year at the collegiate level.

Because of his successful basketball career, Simpson was offered several opportunities to play basketball in foreign countries such as Chile, Mexico, and even Canada. Unfortunately, after his basketball tour, he had to undergo knee surgery. He stated that this was an extremely difficult time because in order for his knee to recover fully, he had to stay away from basketball. On top of not being able to play basketball, he gained weight due to his inability to participate in any physicial activity. It was at this time however that his younger brother Young Bucketz suggested that they start a Youtube Channel. Simpson had never heard much of Youtube before then, but when Bucketz informed him that people reviewed sneakers, he said “why not?“

And the rest was history.

The Youtube Channel Mr. Foamer Simpson currently has a little under 150K subscribers. With a successful Youtube career, Simpson and his brother Young Bucketz have gotten opportunities to participate in many events such as being invited to Michael Jordan’s house to play in the latest Jordan basketball shoe at that time, to being able to play basketball with NBA Superstar Stephen Curry to test out his new basketball shoe with Under Armour. Alongside his YouTube channel he maintains his official website, where we will post additional content of his travels as well as his sneaker reviews.

As far as what is in store for the future, he stated he had no idea, but he will continue publishing new content on both of his platforms in order to educate, as well as entertain his viewers and readers.

Linked below this post is one of my favorite videos by Mr Foamer Simpson called Dare to Air, where he compares the Nike Air Max 2015 to his hometown, New York City
